As part of our Life Planning series, we’re diving into your vision for your life. This vision–this dream–you have for your life is about more than work or just planning for life from a traditional point of view. It’s not just about how to plan for your kid’s college or retirement (although those are parts of it). Instead, we believe that your life plan and vision are rooted in what you really want out of life.
We believe that, in order to plan a life you love, you need to tie your deep-rooted personal goals to your financial situation to get a plan that is specifically catered to you. That’s why we created our Vision Worksheet to help you.
Honing in on your life vision
We know that deciding what you really want out of life can be overwhelming. That’s why we believe that planning for your life’s vision comes down to asking some really tough questions, like:
- What do you want to do before you die?
- What does success really look like to you?
- What does money mean for you?
Of course, these are some pretty intense questions and they have a lot of baggage that comes with them. That’s why we outlined three “questions” in our Vision Worksheet to guide you a little better on this journey.
These questions center on what you would do in three difficult scenarios, which we believe will help a lot of people really think about their life’s vision. We also chose these scenarios because they’re great for getting clear on what’s most important to you.
The worksheet also helps you create a timeline based on your responses to each of the three scenarios, working backward from your overall life vision to find smaller goals and milestones you want to hit.
This worksheet is our way of helping you outline what you really envision for your life so that you can build the foundation of a life that is rich -- personally, professionally, and financially. Each of the 3 scenarios we share in this worksheet is designed to help you really focus on what you want and also encourage you to go out and get it. Hopefully, once you download the Vision Worksheet, it will help you cultivate your life’s vision as well as highlight the differences between where you are and where you want to be. We know life is about more than money, which is why we want you to really think about your dream for your life!
